Art in miniature

Art in Miniature will be a star attraction at this year’s exhibition staged by a local Arts Society at Oswestry Memorial Hall.

For the first time members of Oswestry & District Society of Artists are being invited to submit postcard size paintings for the popular exhibition which opens on Saturday 28th July at 1pm and closes at 4pm on Saturday 4th August.

Oswestry’s Mayor, Cllr Sandy Best, will be asked to pick her favourite postcard painting and the winner will receive a prize at the special Preview Evening on Sunday 29th July.

The postcard paintings will take their place alongside the normal high quality exhibition work which will include paintings using a variety of mediums from watercolour to acrylics.

The idea of showing smaller size paintings is to encourage members to exhibit who have never shown their work before and to provide a talking point for the hundreds of visitors who look around the show.

There is no admission charge and refreshments will be available at the Memorial Hall.

“We welcome people to come along and see the work of local artists”, said Chairwoman, Christine Taylor.  “A warm welcome awaits visitors and we hope they enjoy seeing the work on display and for sale”
